First, the method SQ4R (or even SQRRRR) is a method of study created in 1946 to help study and learn more effectively in less time. E 'useful for students, but obviously it works for anyone who wants to learn or revise topics new or old.
It 's a good way, from which they were taken more advanced methods such as Reading Genius. But it is one "old", which can be improved significantly. This page contains the updated method, which allows you to dramatically reduce the time spent on books, and at the same time to learn better what they study.
First step: SURVEY
At this stage you have to browse the material, without focusing on individual words, but on the macro issues. So you can look at the table of contents and chapter headings and paragraphs.
This creates a sort of mental container, divided into several compartments, each of which will contain the information of the various chapters and paragraphs. In this way, uniformly organize the information, and will be easier to retrieve them when needed.
Second step: QUESTIONS
Prose questions ... Yes, but how? Many say that we need to ask questions, but did not identify which. The questions you need to bring are:
1. what's it about this book / course / chapter ... ? (This will make the container more robust than before)
2. because I have to learn these things? (To pass an exam to improve my life ... this question is to give you some compelling reasons why your mind must learn these things)
3. how can I learn these things easily and effectively? (This is a powerful application that will condition your mind to find practical and effective ways to learn faster)
Third step: READ
Obviously you have to read (otherwise, how you learn?;)). Strongly urge you to re-learn to read using the techniques of speed reading as this (perhaps not the best, but it is fast to learn and gives you amazing results in short time)
read quickly to understand does not mean less . In fact, I'll tell you more: those who do well in school, it is usually also much faster than others to read. This is because reading a lot slower distracts the mind, making them more difficult to grasp the important aspects of the text.
Fourth step: RE-READ
Reread. This step is effective if:
1. 10/15 issues minutes before re-reading;
2. You do it quickly, only to review what you have read
Step Five: Recite
This is by far the most incomplete pass. Can you repeat that, yes, but not required. There are many alternatives to repeat.
alternative is very good and very powerful the use of Mind Maps Tony Buzan (you can learn to make following my ebook "Secrets of Creativity ).
Or you can simply outline, without treating the order, all you have learned. What matters is not how things repeat. What matters is to repeat, so as to provide even more strongly in your mind.
Sixth step: REVIEW
At this point you have to wipe. In fact, if you followed the steps as before, should not serve in the near wipe. In the long term, however, this step is essential. Brush up on a regular basis how much you have learned is very important.
The deadlines are as follows: 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 6 months.
This means that you again after one hour, after 1 day, and so on. Makes no sense to revise things a lot of hours a day. Just wipe at the right moments.
